Static Electricity Agent Separation Unit (Gulftronic separator system)

Completely remove catalyst from sediment oil of RCC/RFCC device at petroleum refineries, and contribute the extension of slurry oil usage and increase profit. Because of the unique features of high-end separation performance and maintenance free characteristic, 1/3 of domestic FCC/RFCC use our products.
Overview
Slurry oil for FCC/RFCC device is usually used upon burning oil but it is also used to produce high value added products such as carbon black, coke for electrode, and carbon materials because it contains aroma components. However, FCC catalyst particles (a few thousand ppm) contained in the slurry oil are obstacles for use. When slurry oil is used, you must dilute it with another oil or remove the particles.
An average diameter of catalyst particles in oil is 10-20 microns and about 20% are micro particles smaller than 5 microns. Therefore, it is theoretically and virtually impossible to separate them using any conventional mechanical filter because of filter congestion.
Gulftronic separator system is an electrostatic type unique separation facility developed by Gulf of the U.S. This is a high performance (accomplishment: few ppm) system with a 5-year free maintenance support service. More than 45 units have been setup in the world and 9 units (1/3 of FCC/RFCC units) are in operation in Japan.
Separation Princples
- Gulftronic separator is a facility system with more than 10 cylindrical modules with a 30cm caliber and 2m length according to the size of plant. Special glass beads fill each module.
- High voltage of 30KV is pressured to the internal of module. When slurry oil containing catalyst passes through the module, the catalyst particles are separated into positive/negative charge and transfer to the oil, then are absorbed by the glass beads (This is dielectric migration in electrical engineering).
- Slurry oil where the catalyst has been smoothly passes through the glass beads (Pressure loss of the entire facility is usually 0.1-0.2kg/cm2).
Features
- Because of this unique separation technology, low pressure lost at 0.1kg/cm2 is maintained and a separation performance of up to a few ppm can be obtained. Therefore, no new booster pump for the slurry oil is required.
- Since automatic reverse backwash is routinely timer activated (one for each module; others during operation), the inside of module is always kept clean. Therefore, open inspection or washing does not require routine maintenance and long-term maintenance. Free operation is possible (achieved more than 5 years).
- This is a system to bypass a portion of FCC/RFCC oil and use it as reverse backwash oil. Since there is minimal pressure loss during backwash (consecutively take out from main line and return to riser), there is no incoming tank, outgoing tank, or booster pump necessary for reverse backwash oil. Therefore, you can reduce cost necessary for additional facilities.
- Utility cost required for operation includes high voltage electricity (AC400/440V) and instrumentation air for operation valve. Therefore, the cost is very low. For standard scale, the level will be 30KWH and 3Nm3/h, respectively.
- This facility is delivered as a package on skids. For the standard model, the space required will be 30m2. Therefore, It is very compact in size.
Accomplishment
The Gulftronic separator system is widely used for catalyst separation facilities to separate the catalyst from RCC/RFCC slurry oil at petroleum refineries around the world. More than 45 units have been setup in major companies such as Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, etc. In Japan, the units are running at petroleum refineries such as Idemitsu, Nippon Oil, Showa Shell Sekiyu, Cosmo Oil, TonenGeneral Sekiyu, Kyokuto Sekiyu, etc. (9 units).
Sales Representative
The Gulftronic separator system is developed by GULFTRONIC and Chlorine Engineers (Agency: Mitsui & Co. Plant Systems, Ltd.) sells the units and provides technical services in Japan and East Asia.
